Picaria is a traditional game from the Pueblo people of New Mexico. Players take turns placing three pieces on the board, then slide them along connected lines to get three in a row. Simpler than tic-tac-toe at first glance, but the movement phase adds real depth and strategic thinking. Play online for free on Classic Play Games — no account or download needed.
Picaria has two phases. In the placement phase, each player takes turns placing their three pieces on the empty points of the board. If neither player has formed three-in-a-row at the end of placement, the game continues into the movement phase.
In the movement phase, you slide one of your pieces along a connected line to an adjacent empty point. The first player to align their three pieces in a row — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — wins.
Easier AI levels miss subtle blocking moves and slide pieces into traps; stronger ones think a few moves ahead during placement and movement. Switch difficulty as you start to read the board.
Local two-player mode lets you and a friend share one phone, tablet, or laptop. Pass after each move — no second account, no invitation needed.

Yes. Local two-player mode lets you both share one phone, tablet, or laptop and alternate turns.
Both end with three-in-a-row, but Picaria limits each side to three pieces and adds a movement phase where pieces slide along connected lines. The sliding phase removes the trivial draws of tic-tac-toe and turns the game into a positioning puzzle with real strategic depth.
